Solo

An internationally renowned artist, Franck Vigroux is a true icon of the live electronic music scene; his style is unlike any other: he treats sound as a physical material—sculpted, eroded, saturated, and then stripped down—and brings together a certain industrial roughness with great harmonic delicacy. For him, power never excludes nuance, and silence is just as effective as volume.

More contemplative than his usual work, his new set unfolds vast atmospheric layers, slow textures, and soundscapes that open up and let the listener lose themselves. These suspended spaces are traversed by pulses—rhythmic surges that emerge, build in tension, and then disintegrate. The concert unfolds through intersections: between the stretching of time and the urgency of the beat, between light and shadow, between organic matter and the machine.

A few pieces from his repertoire, reimagined for the occasion, serve as landmarks on this immersive journey. Alone with his electronic instruments, Franck Vigroux performs each evening a music of the moment—physical and sensitive—to be experienced as a journey.

Bio

Franck Vigroux is a composer and performer who also directs multidisciplinary productions. He thus embraces a wide range of practices, from concerts to total theater. Refusing to be confined to any one genre, he explores a variety of aesthetic and formal approaches. He collaborates with writers, choreographers and digital artists. His music takes shape as readily in pulsating, purely electronic forms as in long abstract pieces. His field of writing knows no bounds: he has worked with rap artists as well as with contemporary music ensembles. This multifaceted approach may be disorienting, but it is the very foundation of his artistic project.

One of the rare musicians to direct stage works, he gives his theatrical and choreographic forms a strong visual and plastic dimension. By interweaving different forms of writing, from light to sound, they create strong and radical synesthetic and emotional experiences. His most notable collaborators include musician Mika Vainio (Pan Sonic), visual artists Antoine Schmitt and Kurt d'Haeseleer, the ensembles Ire and Ars Nova, Phil Niblock, Reinhold Friedl and Ulrich Krieger.

His records are released by labels such as Aesthetical, Raster Media and Erototox.
